i wanted to be a manager at deloitte really bad. i knew our ways, i knew our clients, and i knew the people. after nearly 5 months at PwC, i see little things each day that point to Someone smarter than me making the right decision for me. three quick observations that tell me pwc is the right place.
1. the partners are very involved at pwc. i wind up with partner face time every day and they provide valuable insight and advice to my work.
2. my clients are extremely diverse. i have everything from a company with $80B in assets under management to your mom and pop insurance company. i spent the beginning of this week providing lots of help to a smaller client, the whole time learning loads. ill likely end up at a small company at some point anyway. i also get face time with a very powerful CFO from time to time. its a great contrast that will teach me loads.
3. im sitting here at work. its nearly 9pm on halloween and ive got two people i enjoy right beside me. there is a lot to be said for having cool coworkers to go through the hard times with.
